Media notes
nominate 'saucerottei' here; full adult males with fully glistening green throat (like this one) are comparatively few; most are imms or females with densely spotted throats. Bright white leg tufts ('white stockings') apparent here
Observation details
By far the dominant species here at the feeders, with swarms at feeders and sitting about nearby at all times. Multiple photos showing variation. Edwin Campbell, our guide, points out that Western Emerald does not typically use feeders, but works the flowers stealthily; we could not find even one convincingly. I suspect "Western Emerald" is routinely misidentified here (good learning experience).
