Observation details
Small white mallard/ringbilled sized heron with greenish yellow legs and a long grayish bill. It flew in from the south and landed on the dam. It then flew down to the base of the dam, where it walked around for 40 minutes or so. I lost sight of it when it flew up to the trees on the east side of the river along the lock. It might be roosting in there. This is probably the same bird seen in Baldwinsville on the 25th by Betsy Berglund, if it is then, it seems to be making its way north down the river. To visit Lock 2, park in the small parking lot on the east side of the river along Broadway St., then walk over the swing-bridge to the island. You can also view the area from the Broadway St. bridge.
