Observation details
*known location I heard one at 6 am, upstream of Shelley Canyon in a large sycamore here: 33.07288, -108.45026; two adults were later seen (11:30 am) at this location on my return to camp, one photographed. However, I did not see any young on either encounter, the first observation lasting 30 min and the final observation lasting 50 min. On my second encounter (33.0741415, -108.4439950) ~7 am, I counted at least four, maybe five, individuals at the nest site discovered by Jack Parlapiano and Owen Sinkus. My observation lasted for no more than three minutes in low light conditions before they moved upstream. I waited for two hours in the area, thinking they might return but to no avail. I had two adults (photo) on my last encounter (around here: 33.07662, -108.43493). There may have been young in the area, although my observations were from across the river, and I did not attempt to get any closer for a more thorough search. After an hour, I moved on towards Utah Bill Canyon when I heard one calling from that direction, eventually turning around due to time constraints.
