Media notes
The presence of small red patch at the forehead confirms it as an immature male. The four toes help in foraging on the ground, which Black-rumped Flameback (found in the same habitat) doesn't. The later has only three toes & a small appendage remains probably because of evolution.
Observation details
Two male birds (father & child) were foraging in the same area. I spotted the immature first. Then it went on to the betel-nut tree covered with green algea. The parent even feed its child once, but I missed that shot! They were both calling, even allowed me to get close on the rooftop. Black-rumped Flameback would have fled long before...
