Calls of begging juvenile Fish Crow
Observation details
Fledged juveniles being fed in conifer beside north entrance to art museum. Adult giving typical short, nasal ‘awp’ calls and young similar calls if more incessant and whining. I was able to record audio the young, including a food delivery by the adult. I did not capture an adult calling, however, but I did hear them before and after my attempts to record and am sure these are Fish Crows. The adults had a somewhat more pointed wing, slimmer tail, and shorter beak than American Crows also seen and heard here. This is the first time I have been able to confirm breeding by Fish Crows here on campus. They were thought to have nested in some conifers near to where the juveniles were seen.
