Observation details
Nancy and I saw this large flock of Snow Geese strung across a field along this dirt road. The where eating wheat sprouts. We snuck up on them. She took some photos. I took a photo of her photographing them. my telephoto lens was set at 92,mm. I could not document the full width of the flock because I did not have a wide angle lens on my camera. I counted the flock with by using the visual approximation of 10 birds in a bundle from right to left and my estimate at that point was 400 approx. The the flock got spooked and it became apparent that there were at least an other 400 to 500 that we could not see until they were in flight that had been over the hill. There were other smaller flocks of Snow Geese along this road numbering in the hundreds. I used the same method of counting them and took some photos. I did not include some sparrow species too far away to identify.
