Media notes
Two birds in this cut. A close, presumptive "Western" (swainsoni) Warbling Vireo and a farther "Eastern" (nominate gilvus) Warbling Vireo. The presumptive swainsoni has songs ending at the 4.15 sec. and 15.90 sec. marks. The "Eastern" (nominate gilvus) has songs ending at the 6.80-sec. and 13.90-sec. marks.
Observation details
For the past 10+ years, the Warbling Vireos here have been nominate "Eastern" gilvus. And we heard two such birds today. However, we also heard (and recorded) one that sounded better for "Western" swainsoni. (Audio below, with discussion.) Also, one of the seen-only birds looked better for "Western," although I realize that it is an impressionistic assessment at best, especially in mid-July.
