Observation details
Managed a low pass filter to somewhat hear the owl singing. creek pretty well drowned out the owl sound in the raw recording. I saw a bird that could have been a second individual, perched low, 1-200m up canyon from where I heard the singing bird. This one turned and looked at me with its beady black eyes, it was still dark, so using my headlamp gently and briefly the bird appeared grayish overall and robin-sized (smaller than Screech would be). Notably not a ponderosa in sight, possible migrant? Tall pinyon in a deep-ish canyon with good flowing creek could be suitable nesting habitat?
