NOTES: "Anxiety call near nest with 4 eggs. at 0:04 + 0.39 +1.11 + 3.02,3.05 + 3.39; 3.44; In second part I walk up to it at edge of pond; The bird is walking about in low profile attempting to work back to the nest, then goes to pond edge and finally gives territorial call + flies" WWHG [This recording has several parts and a few different vocalizations, but most of it appear to be "background sounds". The first part begins with what appears to be a "krri-krri-krri" Warning Trill (sensu Cramp and Simmons 1983, BWP, Figure III) at 0:12-0:14. The second part begins with a decapitated "Song" (0:45-0:47) by a close bird, then a full Song by a/the bird further away (1:18-1:21). The third part has one Song (3:14-3:16). I am not sure if anything in the fourth part was given by this species. The fifth part has a distant Song (3:44-3:47), a decapitated Song by a close bird (3:49-3:51, apparently following a stop-start not noticed when archived), and an odd, gurgling call that may or may not have been given by this species (4:38); I do not believe that the soft "churk" call at 4:43 was given by this species. The last part has an unidentified call that was decapitated, followed by one good example of the "krri-krri-krri" Warning Trill followed immediately by a Song (5:43-5:47). The generally single, sharp calls between 2:52 and 3:49 appear to have been given by Limosa haemastica, but the doubled and trebled calls between 4:22 and 4:57 are probably something else (and likely same species as the calls in LNS #3180). Quality unchanged (2, 1-2) - CAM - 8 December 2004]. Other Behaviors: Advertise, Emit Alarm.
