Observation details
Recorded at 2159 hours. Thought this may have been a Least Bittern very close to the mic at first but it is lacking all the lower frequencies of a "squeak" LEBI call. Interestingly, BirdNET claims this is a PUGA (100%). Have never heard one sound quite like this so would appreciate any comment on just what it might be. Posted it for NFC Facebook and it was suggested it sounded like a tern. Compared it was different tern species and Black sounded closest. BirdNET suggests Black Tern the most likely match among the "realistic" species it suggested. The date matches with when Black begin to return to the Gulf Coast swelling summer numbers.
