Observation details
Continuing. One adult and one juvenile seen and heard just below the Comfort Springs trail junction. There may have been a third bird but we couldn’t be sure. The juvenile was first heard making the key-key-key call and then seen perched multiple times. The adult was first seen perched. Large accipiters. The adult had a dark gray back, light gray barred underparts and very distinctive face pattern with obvious white supercilium. The juvenile had a brown back, streaked underparts, pale supercilium and a barred tail. Both were moving through the canopy and then perching. The juvenile frequently made the key-key-key call. One of them made the wail call several times. I suspect this was the adult but cannot be certain.
