Observation details
Swainson's warbler near far northern end of Snake Hill WMA near its boundary with private land/access road near Buzzard Run (about 100 yards downhill of the DNR gate at top of hill)-- be aware of nearby private land. Very thick rhododendron cover and nearby stream. Visual on one bird: Small rusty brown bird with pale underside-- landed and took off quickly and stayed in low cover. Singing continuously. Heard/seen in thick rhododendron, staying low and near stream corridor. Possibly more than two birds, but at least two calling from opposite directions. Originally thought bird might be a thrush (Northern or Louisiana) but song less complex and clean. Recordings provided.
