Recorded with an iPhone 12 Pro and a phone skope attachment at an estimated distance of 200 meters. Some heat distortion evident.
Observation details
Continuing! First found last night by Ricardo Linan and posted to Facebook overnight. The bird foraged on some large snails out in the open at Stop 1 for the entire time I was there. Great to finally have one in Pennsylvania, and on top of that for it to show up in Eastern PA. Seemingly a large majority of recent vagrant Limpkins appear to originate and come up through the Mississippi River valley and its tributaries, so I had anticipated the PA state first Limpkin to show up somewhere in Western PA and/or near Lake Erie (like similar recent records in Ohio, New York, and Ontario). Some digiscoped photos and video, though quality reduced by some heat artifacts.
