NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 5. Bulk reel: 36Weather: Fair with thin cloud haze.a) Two-note song given naturally. Quality: 3. Level: +10."b") I then played the field tape prepared from Cut #1 and shortly after a bird fairly close at hand started singing this song, which is rather similar to the "dawn" (or bother?) song of M. ruficollis. It started quietly and hesitantly which is often the reaction of birds to playback. So I feel confident it was responding to that playback and I believe it's the same bird of the first part of this cut. Quality: 2. Level: +1 & +5.This last part was played back and the bird that reacted excitedly to it was collected = male #5184.
