Observation details
In the hour that I observed the pelican, it relocated multiple times along the breakwater. At 3:05pm, it flew straight toward Stratford Point and the 4 observers, curved south almost directly overhead, then flew to the south of the Lordship Lighthouse. Another observer noted that it flew out over Long Island Sound in the direction of Stratford Shoal Lighthouse. We could not relocate it. Brown wings with whitish head, silvery grey reflection on the back, and distinctive long pelican bill (appearing grayish in the light) and pouch. It was preening itself on the top of the breakwater. Thank you CT RBA!
