Observation details
*Rare for Quincy and very high for Norfolk County, and especially so in Quincy/Hingham Bays. Part of a larger phenomenon of WISP occuring close to shore in the Gulf of Maine, both in the last few weeks and especially the last 7 days. Count of 77 in a single scan, in addition to a tight flock of ~40. Most single birds to the north of Nut Island, west of Peddocks Island, but the tight flock was east of Nut Island, north of Grape Island. None seen to the west of Nut Island. About a dozen or so in close enough to confirm WISP and not Leach's. Possibly the first land-based eBird record for Quincy? Second overall.
