Observation details
Large numbers of several common species due to traveling long distance (9.7 miles one-way: entrance, K-Lynn, Ruby Wash, Salt Lick, Sinking Sun, and Rising Sun trails sequentially) through excellent habitat during peak time of morning. Largish but shy almost thrasher-shaped birds with heavy bills and long tails, olive-green overall with white spectacles and an egg-yolk yellow breast. Primarily observed by sound: varied long song with repeated phrases and mimicked portions of other birdsongs, as well as a whiny call note (recording of one attached). I took care not to double-count individuals when passing through multiple nearby section of the open space (e.g., when winding around the same hillside).
