Observation details
Large numbers of several common species due to traveling long distance (9.7 miles one-way: entrance, K-Lynn, Ruby Wash, Salt Lick, Sinking Sun, and Rising Sun trails sequentially) through excellent habitat during peak time of morning. Spotted Towhees were essentially omnipresent for the entire hike; at most points there were 5-10 individuals present at any given spot. Primarily observed by song (recordings of a few attached as evidence that I was recognizing the correct sounds!). I took care to not double-count individuals when passing through multiple nearby sections of the open space (e.g., when winding around the same wash or cliffside) and still ended up with this tremendous count. This is by far the largest number of Spotted Towhees I've ever found in one place!
