Observation details
The sole nesting Clark's Grebe pair had vacated their nest, the last chick hatched (after multiple day observations) on June 24, best guess, since they were still on the nest on June 23 with 2 chicks hatched. No Grebes were seen back in the Wittenberg creek channel where earlier in the year I had observed, best guess, 60 Clark's and Western Grebes rushing and attempting to nest. No other nest to the best of my knowledge was successful this season. I found the Grebe parents quite some distance out in the main channel feeding feathers to their chicks who were riding on the back of one of the parents. The attached photo barely shows three chick heads and is poor quality due to the distance.
