Observation details
Continuing bird on private property must receive permission to access, glimmering green throat wraps around to nape, olive green cap and back, back transitions from olive green to olive to russet rump, tail feathers rufous with small edges of green on either side of feathers, pale eye ring of sorts, red bill with black tip, pale buff belly with pale tan almost white at center of belly, wings incredibly dark violet black, when stretching wings buffy underwing, hovered in some of the nearby trees searching for insects between visits to the feeder, call ranged from single notes to jumbled then few notes - call sounded like two cricket magnets tapping together. Appears to be an adult though it is uncertain if a HY bird would transition to near adult plumage by January. HY birds would be apparently dull and have a patchier throat through Dec but I am uncertain if they molt in new feathers by Jan. Both HY and adult birds have showed up as vagrants along the Atlantic coast.
