Bulk reel: 17 [Ornithological Gazeteer of Venezuela indicates that Bocono is in the state of Trujillo,, not Tachira, as noted by recordist.] 203 tape. a) 11:15 AM. Song by a flying bird. Quality: 2-3 to 1-2. Level: +5. *This song is different from all others attributed to this species. However, from what I could see of the bird, it looked like this species. Description of Cut 6a), flying bird: Blackish; long wings rounded at tip, barred lines running parallel with long dimension, primaries stick out (spread) like fingertips; long tail with thin white tip and then barred gray and black on underside (~/= tip, blk, gr, blk, gr, blk, gr, blk). b) 1:00 PM. Then similar calls by a sitting bird and also more heard in background by another bird. Quality: 2. Level: +5. This bird seen briefly, was holding a snake. See Cut 7): this may be a case of an adult and a young bird.
