Media notes
calls given repeatedly/ constantly from perched birds well separated by 100m or so (later they joined together); this is the first (close) individual
Observation details
perched birds at the parking lot calling emphatically, sounding quite different from the Types 2 and 4 that we’d heard frequently earlier in the morning at West Bragg Creek PRA); audio-recorded by TBJ, photographed by SW; initially eBirded as Red Crossbill (after considering multiple other types but not landing on a good fit in my quick review); later upgraded from species-level entry to Type 7 after receiving feedback from Tim Spahr suggesting Type 7 “Enigmatic Red Crossbill”; no prior eBird records from Alberta (although this site is under 7 km from BC where there are more records)
