Observation details
FOY. Female at the home of Mike Maroney. It arrived on May 11 and I received permission to try for it on May 12, while Mike was at home. I first heard the bird's distinctive chip ("chink") about 2:40 and then saw it in the tree above the feeder, as well as the hydro wire over the feeder area. It never landed, as it did the previous day but it flew around the yard in the trees chipping quite a bit. Large head and bill, long rounded tail, buffy wing bars, distinctive chip were all easy to distinguish it from female indigo. I got record photos and then left it alone. This was the last day that Michael saw it - he saw it up until the late afternoon. Record photos attached.
