Observation details
I had not considered the possibility of a hybrid when I initially saw this bird, but decided on this ID when looking at the photos later. I noted the white belly and black throat, but I felt that something seemed a bit off about the bird. The white belly does not transition abruptly into a black breast. Rather, the transition between white and black is more of a grayish wash, which would be typical for EAPH. Although phenotypically closer to Black Phoebe, this individual looks good for a BLPH x EAPH hybrid.
