Media notes
A colony of pied shags nesting in a couple of trees adjacent to each other - the second and larger of the two nesting sites observed. Some young but fully grown or near fully grown birds present, and seen begging for food. A small number of little pied shags and little black shags also present in the tree - perhaps 1-2 of each, compared to 20 or more pied shags
Observation details
A mixture of birds seen in flight, in the water, and nesting in trees. The nests were at two sites; the larger one had perhaps 20 birds, in two trees adjacent to each other (canopies touching) on the edge of the lagoon. Young but fully or near fully grown birds present (lacking the yellow skin next to the eyes, and/or begging from an adult and being fed)
