Observation details
Finch type bird, slightly smaller than the coincident Gray-crowned Rosy Finches. Striking light tan and black bird with a massive conical bill (bordered in black which also encircles the eyes), black throat, eyes slightly lighter than black border, and a large head in relation to body. Pink legs and very short tail. Gray back and sides with dark wings, and a massive white wing bar, and some blue in the secondaries. Bird has been continuing (mornings seem best) at a homemade feeder station adjacent to Kulik Drive (51° 52.614'N, 176° 37.997'W). Look for the yard with a tall pole wrapped in rope. Photos. Recording of bird chipping.
