Observation details
First seen preening straight opposite from the train station on the rocks by the lighthouse at 7:15. After about a 30 to 40 minute wait, the bird lifted off into flight. I watched it through the scope looking and seeing the diagnostic patterning over the back for an immature bird as described in Sibley. Luckily it flew close to where I was standing to get photos. Black legs and bill, black fine edging at the end of the white tail, and grayish band with a black mark at the back of the neck. I had excellent views of this beautiful bird. Thank you, Kyle B, for finding this bird on 6/21.
