Observation details
First picked up flying south out from the area new sleightsburg spit. I watched the bird turn in the scope and saw a large white rear wing panel which got me immediately thinking kittiwake. I snapped a couple horrible photos, and went back to the scope and watched the bird fly at a decent high down the river turning around and heading straight north up the west side of the river where the bird landed on the water. I struggled to get a real strong look at the coloring and markings on the wings during its flight but the strong white wing panel was evident as it flapped . While on water it drifted south for a short period of time, slowly giving better but still quite distant views of a black mark on the face and collar. It was still too far to make out any bill color. I was cautious to not rule out species like Sabines due to my poor views but reviewing the record shot with some exposure adjustment , it has enough detail to confirm observations.
