Observation details
Saw one climb the reeds close to where I was photographing Semipalmated Plover (along Potomac shoreline south of Haul Road boardwalk). Paddling back in Hog Island Gut, there was a female calling and there were two males within feet of each other in the same area that flew out in different directions. The one male flew about 40 yards northwest where I would then see another fly a short distance that was about 30 yards east. A few minutes later, I saw a pair (presumably one of them was the same initial female that had flown out from the two males) make a short flight, about 100 yards southeast of my position, and duck down into the reeds. At this point I had considered my safe count to be 5 as I could not tell if I was seeing the same ones in just different areas. A bit later, I saw another one fly into some reeds on the eastern edge and considered that to be a new one to the count since this was a good distance away from the other five I had counted. 4M/2F.
