Observation details
Found almost immediately along river bootpath. Singing male, another singing bird nearby as well but I could not confirm if male or female. First bird seen well, orange and black with large fanning tail. Very much appeared to be singing on territory, as it strongly favored one particular alder. Watched for 15 minutes. 30 minutes later same male was in the same grove as earlier, and I got some decent audio recordings which I’ll upload later. The same second bird was singing nearby, from the same spot I heard it earlier, possibly another breeding bird on territory. But then 1/4 down the trail towards the parking lot, and only a few minutes later I found another adult male, seen well making chipping calls but not singing. A great find by Kilian!
