Holy cats! Err, Catbird! I heard some singing upslope from the train tracks on the north side of the train bridge that sounded strange. The singing was a little disjointed, kind of going everywhere, and included some mimicry. My favorite of the mimicry was definitely the nod to RCKI song; I miss them too! My heart jumped to GRCA, but thought it could've been an oddly soft spoken EUST or LEGO. I was just in Michigan and their song hadn't completely clicked for me yet. I sent some recordings out to a few folks and decided to try to get views. It sang for a while and then was silent for 5-10 mins and then sang again. I was able to finally see an all gray bird with a dark cap and bill skulking in the brush upslope. Also heard it meow! Wowie! Enjoyed by many during my time there. With the last report in eBird for Multnomah County being from 2010, we were long overdue for another! As a funny note, Merlin could not identify the song. Edit: Per Jay and Andy this is now actually considered the first county record! Amazing!!
