Observation details
Call sounded right for American; short steady twee, which kind of trailed off and slurred down and was not two syllables or ending on a higher note. Bill perhaps on the heavy side and head maybe too blocky and large? Primary extension difficult to tell and couldn't get close enough to resolve individual feathers. I could not see it well enough through the scope either because it wouldn't sit still. I could definitely see at least 3, but not sure if there was a 4th. Structurally it did appear attenuated and more tapered at the rear (appearance foreshortened by angle in the photo). Did not appear barrel chested at all in flight, but posture was mostly upright. Confusing bird
