Observation details
Initially heard one bird calling about 700' past trail junction in a section of spruce/fir that was so dense I would call it a "brake". Soon it began to sing, and a few minutes later a second joined on the other side of the trail. They sang/called frequently for the time I was there. Definitely a highlight to eventually see the first bird singing on a branch about 10' off the ground, a hundred or so feet into the forest; through many, many, branches (photos impossible). Dull bark brown plumage with matching rump and tail, yellow at base of lower bill quite bright. Nice treat for a lifer experience. Audio.
