Observation details
Singing in scrub outside the SE airport perimeter fence. Heard it while driving past and stopped to see what it was. Song was two dry buzzy phrases. Brown upper side with streaked back and plain gray nape. Pale gray under side with white throat, malar, and supercilium. Faint dark breast spot. Dark brown sides to crown with pale median crown stripe. Changed locations regularly while singing almost non-stop from willows and small pines. Distant crummy photos. Audio recording on phone. It was still there singing at 1:30 p.m. when I drove past again. There is one previous local report that I am aware of. One 13 July 1971 at the head of Adams Inlet, Glacier Bay “identified by song only, heard song 6-8 times” -Dennis Wik, sightings records compiled by Bruce and Sharon Paige and given to Glacier Bay National Park.
