The best view of the third owlet, on far right facing right.
Observation details
At least 3 juveniles in a cliff nest composed of sticks in a crevice. (The bluff face is one bank of the Deschutes river.) One fledgeling appeared larger and more developed (feathers and markings on the face in particular.) At least 2 clearly awake. I posit the larger owlet is the sole survivor of a first clutch, and the others from a second replacement clutch. Have not yet found confirmation that GHO’s lay replacement clutches in cases of less than total loss of the first clutch, however.
