Successive cuts of Kirtland’s Warbler #1, singing from a hidden position amid 8’-10’ tall jack pines along Kobs Rd.—where we first entered good habitat as we drove in from the south. #1 is being answered by #2 and #3, both audible in the background, which also includes distant Blue Jays. The background of the second cut includes Mourning Dove as well as Blue Jays. Recorded using a Fostex FR-2LE with a Sennheiser ME62 & Telinga Universal 22" parabola.
Observation details
RAR surveyed the stretch from where we parked to the junction of the Kobs and Curtis roads and beyond. I had a total of 11 different singing birds, several of which were close enough for recordings. They were in jack pines from ca. 8' to 10' tall, making them hard to see. But we finally got good looks at #2. A Grebe lifer!
