Observation details
Continuing - huge thanks to the property owner for sharing this bird with so many this evening! Bird was very active - singing and periodically flitting between mounds of vegetation, where it often perched conspicuously. Structurally similar to Grasshopper Sparrow, but with streaked flanks, much bolder ear patch, two dark malar stripes, more rufous in the wings, and subtle olive undertones on the face and breast. Song a choppy series of short insect-like outbursts.
