Observation details
(Rare) Recording, terrible but diagnostic bins photo. Calling from below the trail (south) at the intersection beneath the powerlines here: 43.995926,-122.951899 Medium-sized brownish crested flycatchers with pale bellies and throats, red highlights on folded wings, rufous underside to tail. First heard rough "pereer" calls, registered as ash-throated flycatcher and almost thought nothing more of it until my brain reminded me "you're in Lane County!" - common back home in Bend. Watch one bird fly around in a circle, thinking I was hearing a second, when it joined up on a high oak perch and copulated with a second bird! Don't know if they've been documented breeding here before or not, but definitely looks promising!
