Observation details
Rare; continuing bird found by J. Young. First started calling just before 4:30, and called on and off over the course of 1.5 hours on the north side of the Kennedy Center panne, very close to E. Squantum St. To our shock, it eventually flew south across the panne, visually confirming CLRA. We then found it walking up the road, before flushing into the old baseball field. It seemed to have relocated back to the north side of the panne by the time we left. Large grayish rail with muted rufous and gray tones, and low contrast upper wings when seen in flight. The visual ID was key, since the quality and pace of the calls seemed to fall in the gray area, between CLRA and KIRA. Photos and recordings.
