Observation details

A smart male watched at close range foraging and drumming. In a rich area of mixed forest with plenty of spruce and old dead trees along the ridge-top between the lake and the refuge hut. Responsive to pre-recorded drumming it came in from some distance then settled down to probe away at a large dead tree right in front of us.
