Media notes
I stood no more than 20 feet from an adult AMRO perched in a tree who made this hissing sound, which the Merlin app did not recognize. A female House Sparrow on a branch near the AMRO looked quizzically at the AMRO, but the AMRO returned the gaze with apparent unconcern. The hissing could have been a danger warning to an immature who was on the ground 20 feet from me in the opposite direction. The immature flew to a tree when I turned to walk in its direction. (I did not notice it until I started walking). Also heard: Gray Catbird, Great-crested Flycatcher, another American Robin (erking), House Sparrow, Red-bellied Woodpecker, barking dog, handing and foot noise of recordist, wind, general atmospheric noise. High-pass filter applied at 246 Hz, 20 Hz roll off.
