Observation details
First seen on shore opposite of hut when flying off after Stilt alarm. Striking black and white wing pattern and wing-shape immediately indicate a middle-eastern Lapwing species. I last saw this species a few years ago in Ethiopia, but identification was easy because of short distance, good light and long observation time. The bird was mostly resting, sometimes preening, and walking around a little bit. On return, the bird was still in the same spot, but later changed to the area west of the hut.
