Observation details
That screaming alarm call was going on for at least thirteen minutes. I know when it stopped but may have been out of earshot when it started, so I can’t give an exact time. At first, I was unable to get a visual on the Northern Mockingbird, as it was low, hidden deep in vegetation. I finally saw the Red-shouldered Hawk that the NOMO was warning everybody about, and then the Mockingbird showed up, close to the Hawk’s perch. Shortly thereafter, (a minute or two later) the RSHA left its perch and flew into a nearby tree, roughly fifty feet away. The NOMO followed close behind chasing the hawk whilst continuing to raise the alarm. As soon as the birds disappeared into the tree, the calling stopped.
