Observation details
*Rare, but this is the date window in which some overshoot migrants find themselves along the lakeshore. First detected signing diagnostic "pit-sah" song from the wood's entrance. Failed to get a look or a recording at first since it was singing rather infrequently. Figured I would see what else was around and come back. Circled back around later and managed to capture a mediocre recording, this time when the bird was down low in the "middle trail" section. I was able to get a brief, but satisfactory view: empid, light below, darker olive on top, two white wing bars, long primary projection, head the same color as back, broader-based bill than other expected empids, and a very faint eyering. Audio to be attached. Hotspot bird for myself. Tried to get other birders on it, but the bird did not sing for the last 45 minutes or so of my observational period.
