Observation details
Marked rare. Continuing bird, also seen yesterday. Warbler with warm rusty upperparts and buff underparts that contrasted with white throat. Moderately dark eye stripe, buffish-white eyebrow that extended slightly behind eye. Very short primary projection, tail sometimes appeared rounded and sometimes square-tipped depending on the view. Rump warmer than back and wings. Legs pinkish, bill black above, pink below with dark tip to lower mandible. Did not appear to have dark lateral crown stripe, which rules out Paddyfield Warbler. However this could vary due to lighting, and there is a dark stripe behind the eye which does match up with Paddyfield. Pinkish legs and extremely short primary projection separate it from other warblers. Closest record on eBird is in east-central Afghanistan. Would be quite unlikely in this region but seems to be the most likely possibility other than Paddyfield. Will submit photos and audio. Feedback appreciated.
