Observation details
The birds were seen at different times of the day. I have attached images of the ones I could photograph- as a reference. I have also attached images that compare it to other birds, particularly Wilsons Storm Petrel. The key features are the much longer paddlelike wings of a Storm petrel and the streaky body, similar to a NZ Stormie but with darker primary undercoverts. Although I have not seen a NZSP the consensus on board and examination of some images on the back of the camera was a New Caledonian Storm-Petrel, especially the elongated body.
