Observation details
being harassed by crows but the owl acted indifferent; after 20 minutes as it began to get darker, 3 of the 4 crows flew off; one remained; 10 minutes later, the owl went after the crow. Both returned to the yard next to ours. 5 minutes later the owl went after the crow again. The crow got away but did not return. Based on the plumage (see photo) and size (something I can judge well), this was the male. We always have a breeding pair on our street. Presumably this bird had a fledgling or two nearby. He was focused on hunting.
