Media notes

The original recording was 8 minutes long. This was edited from that recording. The Crescent-chested Warbler can be hear singing about two minutes into the recording. The other birding party was not playing a tape. This was the Crescent-chested Warbler singing from the treetops.

Observation details

I heard the buzzy call of the warbler where it was reported the day before at the wooded area before the last switchbacks to Toll Mountain. The warbler was stationary at the top of a tree and calling repeatedly. At one point the warbler was right above my head where I got poor views of the underside. The warbler then began acting in an agitated manner moving around from tree top to tree top calling from momentary stationary positions. It did this almost in a circle for about five minutes and finally flew further out from the trail. We could still hear its call for several more minutes as it circled around until it finally flew further out and was not heard again. I waited around for an hour and the warbler never returned to the area. There was at least one Colima Warbler calling repeatedly as well.
