Observation details
I was walking along the mound creek trail and as I approached a thicket in a dip in the trail (GPS 43.7175998, -96.1870911) I heard the distinctive song of a white-eyed vireo (see uploaded sound file). Knowing its skulking behavior I recorded the song, and then moved slowly forward. I caught only a couple of glimpses of the bird in deep cover, where I saw its beautiful green, yellow and gray plumage, yellow “spectacles” and white eye. Its 2 white wingbars, yellow flanks and gray nape were also visible. The bird then moved further away and I didn’t manage to get a photo, or see the bird again.
