Observation details
Very cool bird. At first I was pretty disappointed it being a hybrid instead of a pure RBGR because I still needed it for the county (incredibly overdue!) but then I saw the female, so now I’m happy! It was pretty striking seeing that washed out looking breast patch with some yellowish below it. The screenshots of the short video actually show the orange underwing coverts. Alan Barron called out hybrid first. I actually have very limited experience with RBGR, having seen males only in Belize and Panama and 1 female in Orick. It first appeared in one of the apple trees shortly after we were sitting down in Bob’s house and came to the feeders but disappeared soon after and never came back. It’s been coming to the yard for several days according to Bob and Linda but never stays long. This is of course private property and not visible from the road
